We love how close Red Deer Village Holiday Park is to Glasgow. We’re just a 15 minute drive, or a leisurely train ride away, from a whole city full of history, culture and exciting events. We’ve pulled together a range of events taking place in Glasgow this year that we think you’ll love!

Glasgow Culture Events

Glasgow’s iconic West End and Merchant City Festivals are always unmissable events. They showcase creative talent from across the city throughout June and July.

If you’re looking for a feel-good afternoon or evening out there’s a plethora of musicals on at King’s Theatre throughout the year. Shows include The Wedding Singer (April), Grease (May), Funny Girl (May), Dirty Dancing (June), Blood Brothers (September) and Hairspray (October). There’s also must-see dance productions on such as Matthew Bourne’s version of Red Shoe’s. Plus, there are theatre productions including the internationally-acclaimed Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime.

We are extremely lucky to have such a wide range of amazing museums in Glasgow. Expected to re-open at the end of March will be the Upper House within the stunning Pollok House. Later, in May, you can head back in time at the Riverside Museum to explore the history of Scottish Fair Ground rides in their new display A Fair Life.

For art-lovers, there are a couple of brand new galleries and exhibitions opening within the Kelvingrove Museum. These include Life in the Rainforest and The Art of Comic Books. The Hunterian Museum at Glasgow University also has a number of exhibitions planned across the year, including Masterpieces from the Bute Collection.

Glasgow Music Events

Glasgow is no stranger to the music events scene. There are a host of venues across the city, including the SEC (formerly the SECC) and the Hydro. So it’s no wonder we play host to some amazing acts. This year see’s the return of The WhoBob Dylan and Neil Diamond. And at the Royal Concert Halls you can get tickets to Simple Minds10cc or The Pretenders. You can even see Elton John at Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium!

Glasgow Food Events

Across the year there are various food and drink shows. These showcase some of Scotland’s finest local producers. For the widest variety of producers, the BBC Good Food Show returns to the SEC in October. If you’re looking for something different, how does eating your breakfast, lunch or dinner in the sky above George Square sound? This exciting event takes place in June with limited seating!

If you’re a connoisseur of a certain beverage you’ll be pleased to know there are a number of drink-based events coming up. The Gin Festival comes to the Briggait in March, attend The Festival of Wine with Tom Cannavan in June, or book an evening with the Tennent’s Master Brewer.

Hobbies

Finally, if you’ve just taken up a hobby, or you’re looking into starting a new one, there are a number of events happening in Glasgow for you.
