Exciting Water Races

The “Castle to Crane” open water rowing race is a major highlight of the festival and the largest of its kind in Scotland. With over 80 boats participating, this thrilling race takes competitors from the Dumbarton Castle to the Finnieston Crane. Teams from across the world compete for the esteemed Meridien Cup and the opportunity to claim victory at the finish line. Enthusiasts of rowing, regardless of their boat’s size or shape, are encouraged to join in!

The second day of the festival will feature the highly anticipated Dragon Boat Racing. Teams from Glasgow will compete to win the title of Dragon Boat Racing Champions and take home the Dragon Trophy. No prior experience is needed, and participants are urged to come in creative fancy dress.

Interactive Workshops

For those looking to roll up their sleeves and get involved, the festival hosts a variety of interactive workshops and activities suitable for all ages. From knot-tying and rigging demonstrations to maritime-themed arts and crafts, visitors can participate in hands-on experiences that offer a deeper understanding of seafaring traditions and nautical skills. From electric ceilidh and acoustic sets to sea shanties and historic fishing songs, including Gaelic performances, there’s a range of of musical entertainment to enjoy. As you savour the music, you can sample tasty offerings from Glasgow’s best food vendors, grab a drink at the Clydebuilt Bar, and soak up the festival atmosphere.

Water Sports Taster Sessions

If you’re keen to delve into water sports, the festival offers taster sessions for canoeing, kayaking, and rowing. This is the perfect chance to dip your toes into the world of water-based activities and discover a new passion.

Where to Stay? – Caravan Park in Glasgow
