Summer Solstice Otter Walk

Thursday 21 June at RSPB Scotland Baron’s Haugh Nature Reserve

Join our reserve warden for a gentle stroll around RSPB Scotland Baron’s Haugh on the longest day of the year. Surround yourself with the beautiful sights, sounds and smells of all the different habitats and wildlife that call this special place home. From ducks, to blue tits to roe deer, there’s a chance we will see them all. If we’re really lucky, we might even see an otter. Events begin at the reserve car park at the end of Manse Road in Motherwell, ML1 2PZ. Furthermore, event cost £4 for adults, £2 for children, and s free to RSPB members. Booking is essential for all events. Contact the RSPB warden on 07872 814911 or 0141 331 0993 or by email at baronshaugh@rspb.org.uk . Children under 16 are welcome, but should be accompanied by an adult. Please also wear suitable footwear and clothing appropriate for Scotland’s unpredictable climate and bring binoculars if you have them. Some of this event will involve standing for periods of time so remember to wrap up well.

Seven Lochs Trail Guided Walk FREE

Wednesday 27 June starting at Proven Hall House, Auchinlea Road, Glasgow

Explore the history and natural heritage of the Seven Lochs Wetland Park. Join us for a walk along the Seven Lochs Trail from historic Proven Hall House, along woodland paths and over peatlands, to Drumpellier Country Park where we will round things off with a cuppa. At the end of the walk a minibus will be running a return drop off to Proven Hall House. Booking is essential as spaces are limited. please wear suitable footwear. The World of Wildflowers

Now the summer is in full swing, Baron’s Haugh plays host to many beautiful wildflowers in bloom. Come along and get to know some of them, work on your identification skills and learn what they are so important. Events being at the reserve car park at the end of Manse Road in Motherwell, ML1 2PZ. Event costs £4 for adults, £2 for children, and is free to RSPB members. Booking is essential for all events. Crannog Crafts – Wire Jewellery Making and Tin Casting

Saturday 21 July at Drumpellier Country Park

Come and learn the techniques, followed by hands-on experience making replica jewellery using metal wire. Items are based on original finds and can be taken home with you. Make a mould using different materials then cast an item from our selection using molten tin. Additionally, you can keep the item you cast. Contact the Visitor Centre on 01236 422257. Two separate workshops with limited spaces so booking is essential. And, under 16s should be accompanied by an ault. 

Pollinator Patrol

Bumblebees and butterflies are just some of the many amazing insects that pollinate the flowers around us. Enjoy a sunny afternoon getting to know some of them and finding out about their fascinating lives.
