City of Play at Provan Hall

Wednesday 1 August at Proven Hall House, Auchinlea, G34 9NJ

Celebrate National Play Day with City of Play and Proven Hall Community Management Trust. Children and families can get creative and help build “Tinkertown” – play structures and play space they build themselves. Buglife Workshop – Intro to Leaf Beetles

Thursday 2 August at Lethamhill Golf Club, Cumbernauld Road, G33 1AH

How to identify some of the more commonly seen species and survey techniques. Please wear warm clothes and sturdy shoes. Lunch is not provided. Stream Guddling

Wednesday 8 August 2018 at RSPB Scotland Barons’ Haugh Nature Reserve

In the summertime our streams are bursting with wildlife, so join us to find out what creatures and lurking in some of the pools and burns at Baron’s Haugh. Learn how to tell if larvae is from a mayfly or caddisfly, and keep you eyes peeled for frogs! Wellies are essential! Event begins at the reserve car park at the end of Manse Road in Motherwell, ML1 2PZ. Time: 10:30am-12:30pm. Type: Children under 16 are welcome, but should be accompanied by an adult. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing appropriate for Scotland’s unpredictable climate. Booking: Yes – booking is essential. Evening Bat Walk

Friday 10 August at RSPB Baron’s Haugh Nature Reserve

Join us for a twilight walk to track down the bats around Baron’s Haugh, and we find out all about these nocturnal creatures. We will bring along some bat detectors to show you how to search for the amazing bats that live and feed on the reserve. As part of the Year of Young People and Festival 2018 we’ve teamed up with Urban Fox Programme to run a series of adventure activities for young people and families. Calligraphy Workshop

Palacerigg at Dusk

Wednesday 15 August at Palacerigg Country Park Visitor Centre

Join the rangers on walk around Palacerigg on the lookout for nocturnal animals as they venture out and about their business. We will hopefully come across badgers, fox, deer and bats and one or two more of our elusive night creatures. Time: 7pm-10pm. Type: Please wear suitable footwear. Booking: Yes – booking is essential. Ancient Woodworking Workshop

Saturday 18 August at Drumpellier Country Park Visitors Centre, ML5 1RX

Using replica Bronze Age tools make copies of wooden artefacts under the guidance of the experts from the Scottish Crannog Centre.Using hazel or willow you will weave the wood to make mini hurdles similar to those used as outside walls on roundhouses. Go Batty

Friday 24 August at Hogganfield Park LN4, 1240 Cumbernauld Road, G33 1AH

Come along and join Glasgow Countryside Rangers for an evening of batty entertainment, You’ll learn how to tell the different species our our furry, flying friends apart by the different sounds they make and we should expect to see a good few of them flying around the loch. Family Explorer Walk – Wild Flowers

Join in our family friendly wild flower themed explorer walk. Night Shift at Drumpellier Country Park

Wednesday 29 August. ML5 1RX. Meet outside the Visitor Centre.
