Family Explorer Walk – Witches & Wizards

Saturday 27 October at Provan Hall, Auchinlea Road, G34 9NL

Join our family friendly Witches and Wizards Walk. We’ll explore the mystery and magic of trees and woodlands as we gather twigs and branches to make our witch’s brooms and wizard’s wands in preparation for Halloween. Please bring a picnic lunch. Beginners Guide to Woodcarving 

Saturday 3 November at Palacerigg Country Park

Woodcarving is a skill that has been practiced for centuries. Why not come along and try your hand at making a spoon, spork, knife, or even a traditional Scandinavian kuksa cup? Marvellous Migrants

Saturday 10 November a RSPB Scotland Baron’s Haugh Nature Reserve

Winter is on its way, and Baron’s Haugh is becoming home to plenty of visitors from far and wide. Come along and learn about the birds that make it their own during the winter months after flying thousands of miles to Scotland Event begins at the reserve car park at the end of Manse Road in Motherwell, ML1 2PZ. Time: 10:30am – 12:30pm. Cost: Event costs £4 for adults, £2 for children, and is free to RSPB members.Children under 16 are welcome, but should be accompanied by an adult. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing appropriate for Scotland’s unpredictable climate. Some of this event will involve standing for periods of time  so remember to wrap up well.  Booking: Booking essential. Identifying Wetland Birds

Saturday 17 November at Hogganfield Park LNR. 

Want to know your ducks from your drakes? Experts from the British Trust for Ornithology will help you to learn how to identify a range of wetland birds and show you how to carry out a wetland bird survey. Big Bird Bus Tour 1

Sunday 18 November at Hogganfield Park LNR.

Jump on board for a bus tour around the Seven Lochs to search for new arrivals. We’ll visit lochs and wetland sites to look for wintering wildfowl and other birds as they make their way south for the winter. Please bring a picnic lunch. Christmas Calligraphy Workshop

Winterfest Fun Day and Craft Fayre

Saturday 8 December at Palacerigg Country Park, Cumbernauld

Come along and join in a day of free festive fun featuring Santa in his grotto, a live animal nativity scene, treasure hunts and competitions. There will also be craft workers selling their unique and crafty creations for great presents, stocking fillers and special gifts. Our own shop will be stocked up for the day with our unique Palacerigg branded goods and farm themed gifts. Avoid transport hassles and hop on our free shuttle bus which will be calling every half hour at Greenfaulds Railway Station park and ride. Pickups between 11:30am and 3pm, last return bus leaves the park at 3:45pm.Time: 11am – 4pm. Contact: Visitor Centre on 01236 632703.

Festive Wreath Making

Join us to enjoy a seasonal wander around Baron’s Haugh to gather all kinds of natural craft materials. We will then be weaving willow into festive wreaths and creating some other lovely pieces to take home in time for Christmas. Sunday 9 December outside Visitor centre, Drumpellier Country Park

Christmas wreaths and sprays, Yuletide logs and festive greetings – create a masterpiece for your mantelpiece, all made from natural materials, sourced here in the country park. Time: 1:30pm – 3:30pm. Contact: Countryside Ranger Service on 01236 422257.
