A Relaxing Scottish Break

relaxing Scottish break

Are you in need of a relaxing break?

Red Deer Village Holiday Park is situated on the outskirts of Glasgow, surrounded by countryside – the perfect retreat!

We have a range of beautiful chalets, static caravans and holiday homes available to rent – whether it’s for a weekend, or a week! You can even bring your family pet along too.  Whilst you’re on a break, there are a number of relaxing activities you can do; here are a few of our favourite ways to spend a day or two around our holiday park!

Get Pampered

One of our favourite ways to relax is with a day long spa retreat. Luckily, we have a great selection of amazing spas around us, to enjoy whenever we feel like we need a relaxing break!

Blythswood Square Hotel

Right in the heart of Glasgow you will find the gorgeous Blythswood Square Hotel. Within the hotel you can visit their luxury spa and fitness suite for the day. They offer a wide range of treatments and massages for you to enjoy. If you’re feeling hungry after that relaxing break away, you can book yourself in for one of their amazing afternoon teas. There are a number of spas around the city but the Blythswood is always a firm favourite.

Cameron House Spa

Fancy a relaxing day away from the city, with views of Loch lomond? The Spa at Cameron House has everything from mud rooms to a rooftop infinity pool, with views of the stunning loch and mountains. Facials, massage treatments or hair, makeup and nails – you name it, they have it – all with an unforgettable view.

The Westerwood Hotel And Golf Resort

The closest spa to us here at Red Deer Village Holiday Park is the Westerwood spa; just a 15 minute drive away! This spa has recently undergone renovations, and offers all of the traditional treatments you’d expect for a great price. Keep an eye out for their great spa deals!

Top Tip – Check websites such as itison and groupon for amazing spas deals in and around our local cities.

A Spot Of Light Exercise

One of the best ways to relax and relieve your stresses is with some light exercise. We think you’ll agree, the best kind of exercise is when it doesn’t feel like exercise at all!

A Leisurely Stroll In Pollok Country Park

This 146-hectare country park is located only 25 minutes away from the holiday park, making it a great place to head for a sunday stroll. Within the park you’ll find beautiful riverside walk, a walled garden, Old Stable Courtyards, play-park, mountain bike circuit, a wildlife garden, and highland cows!

Take A Dip To De-stress

One of the most relaxing forms of exercise is swimming, taking the whole weight out of your body. Head to Stepps Bannatyne club, just minutes from the holiday park, where you can purchase a day pass. For a particularly special swim there are lots of historical baths such as Arlington Baths and The Western Baths, both located in Glasgow’s West End around 20 minutes drive away.

Stretch Your Way To Relaxation

With their links to mindfulness, Yoga and Pilates are rapidly growing in popularity amongst those looking for some inner peace and quiet. A quick Google search will bring up a number of local classes, or check Yogamd.co.uk for classes in Stepps. A little further out, in Glasgow, you’ll find classes such as Pilates in the Botanics, or Yoga at the Yoga Hut.

Places To Visit

There are so many great places surrounding Red Deer Village Holiday Park that make a fantastic relaxing break or day trip.

Glasgow’s West End

Glasgow’s west end is great if you feel like meandering round boutique shops and enjoying a delicious lunch. Just beside hillhead subway stop you’ll find Ashton Lane; a gorgeous cobbled lane with an independent cinema, and loads of amazing spots for a tipple or something to eat. If you love vintage shops, you don’t want to miss out on Ruthven lane just opposite Ashton Lane.

Edinburgh Royal Botanic Gardens

If you feel like making a trip to the capital the Royal Botanics are definitely worth a visit. Have a wander around, and stop to enjoy their huge range of plants and flowers. A highlight is definitely their magnificent Victorian Temperate Palm House – the tallest of its kind in Britain!

Museums – Glasgow Kelvingrove Museum & Edinburgh National Gallery

These are two of our favourite museums. Both are perfect for a walk around. Count the floating heads in the Kelvingrove Museum, or take in the works of artists such as Andy Warhol in the National Gallery. Both museums also have their own cafes on site if you feel like getting something to eat during your visit.

If you don’t feel like leaving Red Deer Village Holiday Park, luckily you can cosy down in your warm and comfy chalet, holiday home or caravan!
