Tower and Tomb – Archaeology Walk

Saturday 8 September at Glenboig Community Centre, 110 Main Street, Glenboig, ML5 2RD

Seven Lochs Area Trail Guided Walk

Wednesday 12 September at Provan Hall House, Auchinlea Road

Join us for a walk along the Seven Lochs Trail form historic Provan Hall House, along woodland paths and over peatlands, to Drumpellier Country Park where we will round things off with a cuppa. At the end of the walk a minibus will be running a return drop off to Provan Hall House. Time: 10am start. Please wear suitable footwear. Booking: Booking essential. Doors Open at Provan Hall

Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August at Provan Hall House, Auchinlea Road, G34 9NJ

Join the Friends of Provan Hall and the Seven lochs Team for our annual Doors Open Day event at Provan Hall. This year will focus on the medieval history of the area with arts and crafts, guided tours of the Hall and a host of medieval themed entertainment. Time: 11am-4pm. Type: Family. Dusk Til Dawn

Wednesday 19 September at Strathclyde Country Park

Nocturnal meanders with the Countryside Ranger Service to discover the wildlife wonders on your doorstep. Bat detectors supplied. Meet at Watersports Centre, Strathclyde Country Park. Time: 8pm-10pm. Night Walk around Gartcosh Local Nature Reserve

Thursday 20 September. Meet at Auldyards Road entrance just off M73, junction 2a.

Gartcosh is home to many creatures that come out under the cover of darkness. Dusk is a perfect time to spot a bat, fox or even an owl as they head out into the night to feed. If you are lucky you may even catch a glimpse of a Great Crested Newt, Scotland’s rarest newt species. Time: 8:30pm – 10:30pm. Booking: Booking essential. Discover Dumbreck

Saturday 22 September at Dumbreck Local Nature Reserve

Come along and discover what Dumbreck Local Nature Reserve has to offer. This is a chance to discover the wildlife and habitats on your doorstep and find out about the exciting new project which will improve the site for both people and wildlife. Meet at boardwalk by the entrance to Dumbreck Marsh on Gavell Road, Kilsyth. Time: 12pm-2pm. Booking: Booking essential. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear for unpredictable weather. Take the Long Way Home

Sunday 23 September at Clyde Walkway from Garrion Bridge to Strathclyde Country Park

Back by popular request! We take the minibus, fill it with people and drive to the Garrion Bridge then we send the bus home and walk back to Strathclyde Country Park! We follow the River Clyde as it passes by the ancient woodlands of Cambusnethan, onto Adders Gill and Baron’s Haugh Nature Reserve. Meet at the Watersports Centre, Strathclyde Country Park. Time: 12pm – 4:30pm. A reasonable level of fitness will be assumed. Bring a packed lunch to enjoy. Contact: Countryside Ranger Service on 01698 402090.

Family Explorer Walk – Woodlands

Saturday 29 September at Gartcosh LNR.

Join our family friendly woodland themed explorer walk. We’ll do some basic tree identification, try our hand at environmental art and learn safe fire lighting skills. Please bring a picnic lunch. Fascinating Fungi

Sunday 30 September at Dalzell Estate, Motherwell

Mushroom, toadstools or fungus, whatever you call them, they’re fascinating. Fruiting bodies seem to pop up from nowhere only to vanish again within days.Would you know your Boletus from your Puffballs? Join the Countryside Ranger Service to discover the wonders of nature’s great natural decomposers. Meet at Dalzell House car park, off Dalzell Drive, Motherwell. Time: 1:30pm – 3:30pm.
